Flow State : How to perform at your very best

Have you ever experienced moments where time stood still, stress dissolved, and everything just...clicked?

You felt good...

Really good.

You were “in the zone.”

As an executive coach, I empower senior business leaders to reach optimal performance where they perform and feel at their very best.

This state, eloquently described by psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, is

“Where worry and stress cease to exist, and you trust your training and capabilities implicitly.”

It is a state called “Flow”.

Sports coaches have long been helping the world’s top athletes find it.

Think of Serena Williams hitting a backhand down the line.

Or Messi slaloming past defenders on his way to goal.

Or Jordan hitting the game-winning three-pointer.

That can be you, too, nailing your next project.

But Flow is not easy to achieve.

You need three things even to have a chance:

1. A challenge

A goal that motivates and stretches you.

2. Focus

Solid time blocks free of distractions to do your best work.

3. Confidence

A positive mood. A feeling that you can and will win.

So now ask yourself:

✳️ Does your job challenge AND motivate you?

✳️ Do you have time free of distractions?

✳️ Are you happy right now?

You cannot get into a flow state if you answered “No” to any of these.

You cannot reach optimal performance.

You cannot live to your full potential.

You need to make a change.

You need a coach.

When was the last time you found a flow state?

What were you doing?
